Frequently Asked Questions

We've spent a lot of time building a new site. The old one was great but didn't offer many of the features we could provide for an amazing experience to our pilots. Thanks for your patience while we upgrade.

The Dashboard has been simplified to help you understand your current status and flight statistics. Previous elements of this page, including tutorials, schedule searches, pilot logs, downloads, and other tools have been dispersed to other areas of the site. Please look around to get familiar with the new navigation of Canada Air Virtual.

If you have any questions, please post them in Discord.

You need to download the new version of ACARS. If you need help, please visit our Tutorials page.

No. But Discord provides a friendly space to ask questions, share your screenshots, connect with others, and learn tips and tricks you might not otherwise find out about. We highly recommend you check in regularly to see what's going on!

On the new site, you no longer "bid" on a flight. You will now "dispatch" one. Check out the tutorials page for how to search for flights or tours and how the new dispatch system works.

Yes, we are now fully compatible and integrated with SimBrief!

If you think you're missing an award or your tour doesn't seem to be progressing, post your inquiry on the Missing Awards Requests channel on Discord.

We've done away with the old forums. You'll find places to ask your questions on Discord.

There are a number of ways you can contribute!

Migrating tour progress from the old site to the new one has presented some challenges. It is a known issue and we're working on it. Don't worry, you won't be expected to refly the legs. (Unless you want to!)

All flights were successfully imported but we believe the issue is that the new system doesn't update "Total Hours" in real time (presumably for performance reasons). We suspect they will update either overnight or right after your next filed and accepted PIREP.

If you downloaded and installed the ACARS application, but when you launch it from the Windows Start Menu, nothing happens, please try these troubleshooting steps:

  1. Open the %LocalAppData%\Apps\2.0\ File Folder. (Simply copy & paste %LocalAppData%\Apps\2.0\ into your PC search window)
  2. Inside, you'll likely see several folders with names like this.

and another set of similarly named folders inside
keep drilling down and look for a folder named similar to vaba...exe_0000000000000000_0003.0001_none_8ff7813f3435250e or vaba..tion_0000000000000000_0003.0001_bd3f34483884855c with different numbers at the end. The key is the vaba... part
Inside of one of them, you are looking for a file called vaBaseLive.exe
  3. Double-click the vaBaseLive.exe file to run ACARS
  4. From now on, it should launch properly from the start menu
